Katarina Witt first began to skate as early as age 5 years. When her talent for skating began to show her admission was granted at an Karl-Marx-Stadt school that is geared towards kids with a sporty ability. This is where she met her teacher Jutta M ller. Witt finished second at the World Championships of Copenhagen in 1982. This marked her debut. In the years since, Witt's grace and beauty have captivated the attention of everyone. Olympic victory at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Games, Katarina Witt came through a closely race to claim the women's figure skating gold medal. After four years, that she was able to claim an additional tighter race. Even though she fell short in the free-skating contest, gold was awarded for her performance on the compulsory figures and the program in short form. Witt became the first female repeatedly crowned winner of figure skating, following Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame Witt, who made it big in the film industry as an actress before returning to figure skating in 1994 to compete at Lillehammer Winter Games 1994. Although she didn't take home a medal, the young woman delighted her fans despite coming in seventh. Witt's entry into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame occurred in the year 1995.
